The 2017 edition of the Poitiers Film Festival that took place in December in France presented a varied sample of Colombian short and feature films and received delegations from the National University of Colombia, Universidad del Valle, Universidad de Magdalena, and the National Film School of Colombia (ENACC), which have provided training to important filmmakers that have gone on to produce works that are high points in Colombian film.

This year the French competition reached its fortieth edition and, as every year, presented a selection of international productions from the best film schools in the world. The Colombian film scene, which in recent years has seen constant growth, was chosen to be the focus of this edition, given the increase in the number of feature films produced in the country since 2000 and the growing number of Colombian institutions that provide high-quality training.

Poitiers Film Festival is an international meeting of schools from different countries. It aims to be a space where young audiences can be at the epicenter of film production, being a productive festival for new filmmakers and professionals from around the world looking to discover new promise in the industry, as well as primary and university schools with audiovisual programs.
