In 2004, a bomb went off at a public library in Medellín, Colombia. Many details surrounding this attack are not clear, but there is a photo in which library employees are seen cleaning up the rubble. This photo inspired first-time director Sebastián Múnera to make La Torre, a title that refers to the mythical Tower of Babel. The black-and-white experimental film, with occasional insertions of color, portrays the movement from the old library to the new one under construction. It follows three characters: Jorge, the photography conservator who attempts to develop the long-hidden photo; Gloria, a library employee; and Neyder, a young construction worker. The often mysterious form of La Torre leaves itself open to interpretation. While the calm camera glides lovingly through the building, time and light pass through. The result is a courageous and poetic attempt to keep history alive.

Cartucho is a story of degradation that portrays a society attempting to sweep its garbage under the rug. After the violent demolition of the Cartucho neighborhood in 2001, the government built in its place a barren park that people are still wary of. But Cartucho's legacy remains. The neighborhood was destroyed, but the anger persists.
Both productions were selected for Bright Future, a section at the forty-seventh edition of the of the Rotterdam festival dedicated to emerging film talents. The section showcased ten films, ranging in duration from 40 to 62 minutes. Although they do not compete for awards, they are highlighted as high points in their format.
Cartucho received a grant from the Colombian Film Fund (FDC) Short Film Contest and returned to Rotterdam after having participated in the Rotterdam Lab in 2012 during its development stage. The film has appeared festivals including the Havana Film Festival, Marseille International Film Festival, and Transcinema International Film Festival in Peru, where it received a Special Mention from the jury in the Transandina Competition.

La Torre is a Schweizen Media Group and Itaca Films production and had its world premiere during the festival.
