The Jorge Navas film Buenaventura Mon Amour won two awards in the Primer Corte section in Ventana Sur, the most important film market in Latin America. One of them was the NMF and Color Front Prize, awarding the film a copy in DCP format. The other, the HD Argentina Prize, granted the film color correction and conforming until the completion of the DCP copy.

Buenaventura Mon Amour is an account of life amidst poverty and violence in Buenaventura. On the streets, Harvey and his friends share a passion stronger than life: music and dance. At the hip hop championship they will have to decide whether to trade in violence for dance and bullets for verse.

Primer Corte is a market space that aims to support the completion of fiction feature films that are in post-production. It is a section that has become an important platform for increasing the participation of Latin American film in markets and festivals around the world.

Ventana Sur, held since 2009, has become the main film market in the region. Each year it welcomes close to 2000 accredited members, among them more than 300 buyers and sellers from the five continents. Buenaventura Mon Amour competed alongside five other Latin American productions from Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Chile.

For its part, Catalina Mesa’s documentary Jericó, el infinito vuelo de los días was recognized in Geneva at Filmar en América Latina with the Audience Award which grants approximately 4000 dollars. Jericó is a project on the threshold between documentary and fiction. It is a kaleidoscope of intimate portraits of women from the town of Jericó in Antioquia, Colombia. Through a sensitive, musical itinerary, the film weaves together the encounters and conversations between the women of different ages and social backgrounds.

This award for Jericó, el infinito vuelo de los días comes after its participation in various international events such as CineLatino in Toulouse, Poitiers Film Festival, DocsBarcelona, Guanajuato International Film Festival, Hotdocs, Lima Poitiers Film Festival, Vancouver Film Festival, Sao Paulo Film Festival, Tel Aviv Film Festival, BIFF in Bogotá, and others.

This year, Filmar en América Latina screened 82 films. The festival was created in Geneva by the Association Cinéma des Trois Mondes and is the only festival in Switzerland dedicated exclusively to Latin American films.
