Colombia at Anima Latina

Eleven Colombian productions were included in the Official Selection of the third edition of the Latin American Animation Film Festival—Anima Latina—which ended on July 1

Anima Latina is held every year in Buenos Aires and was born as a response to the growth that Latin American animation has seen in recent years and its attendant worldwide recognition. The festival aims to position itself as a place for industry members to meet and reflect on issues that affect the development of Latin American animation. As a space for promotion and exhibition where the public can encounter quality productions and discover new trends, the festival has competitive sections, special screenings, conferences, film presentations, series and publications.
 
Colombia was represented at the Latin American Short Films Official Competition by productions such as La ballena escarlata, Colombian-Argentine co-production by Cho Jim San, Me Kafka Bogotá by Ricardo Arce and Camilo Cogua, and Tangible by Laura Castillo. A.C.A.B/Total Hate by Christian Giuseppe López Zapparrata was in the Latin American Music Video Competition. Vida Pública Show by Karlos Montoya Rave was screened in the Latin American Webseries Official Competition. In the category Latin American Short Films from Film Schools, Colombia was represented by Catch You Later by Andrés Forero Serna, Péndulo by Carlos Jose Echeverria, and We are The Immigrants, a Colombian-American co-production by Catalina Matamoros.
 
Taller libros, lápices, animación competed with it short film Tememok in the Short Films Made by Children Official Competition. Finally, Gray by Julián Villegas and The Chimerical Museum of Shifting Shapes by Damián Alquichire were part of the Official Non-Competitive Latin American Selection.
 
Anima Latina takes place in various venues, including the General San Martín Cultural Center, the Film University, the LUMITON Film Museum, the York Cinema and the Munro Cultural Center.
