PÁRAMO

PÁRAMO

Synopsis

For million of years¸ South America has beheld the spectacular and violent collision of three big tectonic plates. The collision folded the continent and heightened the land towards the skies. Thus the Andes were born. Being the longest mountain range in the World¸ it covers over 7000 Kilometres across South America. Colossal compression forces formed an extensive belt of volcanoes across the western coast of the continent. The raising of the mountains altered the climate of the entire continent. Within the tropical peaks of the Andes¸ between 3200 and 4800 meters above sea level¸ in an ecosystem known as paramo¸ life prevails among some of the most severe conditions on earth.
