23rd - Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá

December 02 to 09 - 2025 / Bogotá (Colombia)

Description

Previously known as the In Vitro Visual International Festival, this initiative was founded in Bogota in 2003 by the partners behind In Vitro Producciones, creators of the In Vitro Bar. It was originally conceived as an open audiovisual platform to offer free public screenings of works made by the bar's creative client community. With simultaneous digital screenings across three screens, In Vitro Visual drew an audience of approximately 350 people per night, reaching more than 17,000 attendees per year, all interested in discovering emerging talent in Colombian cinema.
In 2006, the showcase THE BEST OF IN VITRO VISUAL was launched, presenting a six-hour program of the most notable works from the previous year. This selection tours more than 12 cities across Colombia annually and has also been screened in Argentina, Germany, Spain, the United States, and Venezuela.
Each year, roughly 180 Colombian works are submitted through open calls and independent curatorial processes. From these, 45 titles are selected for the Official Selection of In Vitro Visual. In November, the jury announces the nominees, who are recognized during the awards ceremony held in the first week of December, known as the FIIVV – Festival Internacional In Vitro Visual.
