BAM17: Events Open to the Public and BAM Talks

The experts who will participate in the BAM Talks at the 17th edition of the Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM), to be held July 6–10 in Bogotá, have been announced. The series will bring together international guests such as Mexican director Alonso Ruizpalacios, Venezuelan filmmaker Mariana Rondón, and Portuguese programmer Cíntia Gil, among others, who will engage in discussions on filmmaking, festival programming, production processes, music, inclusion, and new narratives. The agenda also includes the premiere of "Vaivén", an immersive audiovisual experience by Proyecto Aurora, which will be on view at the Centro Felicidad Chapinero. For this edition, this venue and the Cinemateca de Bogotá are joining the market’s usual venues with a free program aimed at bringing the audiovisual industry closer to new audiences.

Theaters are buzzing with Colombian cinema

Movie theater operators interested in developing outreach and engagement projects centered on Colombian cinema may apply for the “Los exhibidores laten con el cine colombiano” call for proposals by July 6. The initiative will support proposals that promote new ways for Colombian films to connect with audiences through free screenings, special activities, and audience-building strategies.

Four international awards highlight Colombian cinema

Colombian productions and co-productions received recognition at film festivals in England, Nigeria, and Canada. 13 Experts from Ibero-America at LAB Macondo 2026

LAB Macondo - Executive Production will bring together 24 professionals from the audiovisual sector for a training program led by 13 experts from Ibero-America. The program will feature professionals such as Carlos Juárez (Spain), Fernando Epstein (Uruguay), Cecilia Salim (Argentina), and Giancarlo Nasi (Chile), along with specialists from Colombia, in a format that combines an online phase beginning June 23 and an in-person phase from September 7 to 14 in Santa Fe de Antioquia.

The Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM) is now accepting registrations for its 17th edition, which will take place from July 6 to 10 in Bogotá. The Early Bird rate is available from April 30 to May 31, while the Regular Fee is available from June 1 to 30.

    The latest edition of Ventana Sur brought strong international visibility to Colombian projects, with several titles receiving major awards. Las vidas de Marie (Marie's Lives) earned a Special Jury Mention in VS Animation. Donde comienza el río (Where the River Begins) received both the Nacho Mazzini Family / Colorfront Award and the Stone Milk Award in Primer Corte. Falso positivo (False Positive) was awarded the San Sebastian Film Festival Prize in Proyecta, as well as the Sørfond Pitching Forum Award. Fura won the C21 Content Americas Award in VS Series, and El aire que se escapa (The Air That Slips Away) received the TATTÚ Translation Studio Award in VS Scripts. These recognitions positioned Colombian projects among the most prominent at the Latin American audiovisual market.

The 12th edition of MIP Cancun took place in Mexico from November 18 to 21, bringing together audiovisual professionals focused on expanding the circulation and development of television projects. This year, Colombia stood out with a strong presence that included an industry recognition for Claudia Triana, Director of Proimágenes Colombia, who received the Industry Pillar Award at the PRODU Awards, held as part of the event. In addition, seven Colombian regional broadcasters attended as part of a coordinated delegation, operating from a shared stand where they held meetings, presented projects with international circulation potential, and explored new strategic partnerships, with support from MinTIC and Proimágenes Colombia.

Three Films at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

Three Colombian productions were selected for the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, held from November 7 to 23 in the Estonian capital. The lineup included Una vez en un cuerpo (Once in a Body; Colombia, United States), directed by María Cristina Pérez; Disfonías (Dysphonias), directed by María Camila Pulgarín and Manuela Giraldo; and The Megalomaniacs (Greece, Cyprus, Colombia), directed by Spiros Stathoulopoulos.

BAM17 is expanding its ties with Latin America and opening three new spaces for the audiovisual industry

The 17th edition of the Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM), a program organized by Proimágenes Colombia and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, will take place in Bogotá from July 6 to 10. This year, the market features a program that includes new sections dedicated to emerging formats, audiovisual archives, and narratives of peace. Registration for the market’s Regular Fee category will remain open until June 30.

Ciclo Rosa Celebrates 25 Years of Film, Dialogue, and Artistic Creation

From June 18 to 28, the Bogotá Film Archive will host a film program featuring a national selection, an international selection, new releases, a retrospective dedicated to German filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim, discussion panels, and creative workshops focused on sexual and gender diversity.

Colombia's Presence at Annecy and MIFA

Colombian animation companies, public entities, and projects will participate in the Annecy International Animation Festival and its MIFA 2026 market, June 23–26. The national delegation will arrive with a schedule of industry meetings, opportunities for international cooperation, and several productions in the official program, including Decaer, Tres gatos parias, Una vez en un cuerpo, Desechable, La violinista, and Valentino y la calavera. The participation will also include the first international presentation of an animated anthology series developed in Bogotá, reaffirming the growth and international reach of Colombian animation.

The Cine en las Montañas Film Festival presents its 2026 lineup

From July 1 to 5, Salento (Quindío) will host the 12th edition of the International Cine en las Montañas Film Festival. Under the theme “Latin American Rural Re-Existences” and with Cuba as the guest of honor, the festival will present a program featuring a selection of 49 short films and 10 feature films that explore the ways in which rural communities have preserved their memories.
