“It's Raining on Babel” premieres next week

On April 16, the film directed by Gala del Sol—winner of the Film Screenings category at the 15th Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM) in 2024—hits theaters across Colombia. With a distinguished international track record at festivals such as Sundance and Rotterdam, it won the Grand Jury Prize at Inside Out Toronto for Best First Feature and was named Best International Film at the 2025 Pride Awards in New York.

Call for Entries: 24 BOGOSHORTS and 10 BFM

Submissions for the National and International Competitions at the 24th BOGOSHORTS Festival will remain open until August 6. On the same date, submissions close for the 10th BFM - BOGOSHORTS Film Market, the festival’s industry section, which introduces a new feature: Freak BFM. The Journalistic Short Film Competition returns for its second year, and submissions are also now open for the Virtual Reality and Fanático Freak Fantástico sections.

    The latest edition of Ventana Sur brought strong international visibility to Colombian projects, with several titles receiving major awards. Las vidas de Marie (Marie's Lives) earned a Special Jury Mention in VS Animation. Donde comienza el río (Where the River Begins) received both the Nacho Mazzini Family / Colorfront Award and the Stone Milk Award in Primer Corte. Falso positivo (False Positive) was awarded the San Sebastian Film Festival Prize in Proyecta, as well as the Sørfond Pitching Forum Award. Fura won the C21 Content Americas Award in VS Series, and El aire que se escapa (The Air That Slips Away) received the TATTÚ Translation Studio Award in VS Scripts. These recognitions positioned Colombian projects among the most prominent at the Latin American audiovisual market.

The 12th edition of MIP Cancun took place in Mexico from November 18 to 21, bringing together audiovisual professionals focused on expanding the circulation and development of television projects. This year, Colombia stood out with a strong presence that included an industry recognition for Claudia Triana, Director of Proimágenes Colombia, who received the Industry Pillar Award at the PRODU Awards, held as part of the event. In addition, seven Colombian regional broadcasters attended as part of a coordinated delegation, operating from a shared stand where they held meetings, presented projects with international circulation potential, and explored new strategic partnerships, with support from MinTIC and Proimágenes Colombia.

Three Films at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

Three Colombian productions were selected for the 29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, held from November 7 to 23 in the Estonian capital. The lineup included Una vez en un cuerpo (Once in a Body; Colombia, United States), directed by María Cristina Pérez; Disfonías (Dysphonias), directed by María Camila Pulgarín and Manuela Giraldo; and The Megalomaniacs (Greece, Cyprus, Colombia), directed by Spiros Stathoulopoulos.

From April 13 to 19, the program features industry meetings, screenings, and industry-related activities, and provides platforms for the circulation of Colombian cinema, its international promotion, and dialogue among audiovisual professionals. It also includes training initiatives, incentives, and networking opportunities with the global industry.

Phase II of the FDC 2026 Call for Proposals is now open

This phase of the call for proposals will allocate a total of $1,585,000,000 in grants for feature film projects in development, screenwriting, training, and the preservation of cinematic heritage. Among the new features, the Training category for the film sector is being reinstated, and the Development of feature films by ethnic groups in fiction and documentary categories is being added. This phase will remain open until May 4, 2026.

INPUT storytelling in Bogotá

Bogotá will host this international audiovisual production event for the first time from May 4 to 7. The Cinemateca de Bogotá will serve as the venue for this festival, which will feature 67 films from 19 countries. Three Colombian productions are participating.
