Awards for Colombia around the world

Four national productions were highlighted in the most recent edition of the International Film and Communication Festival of Indigenous Peoples (FIC-CLACPI), a key space that promotes the right to communication of indigenous peoples in Latin America and the strengthening of their cultural and territorial identities. The following received awards: Akababuru: expresión de asombro, by Irati Dojura Landa Yagarí; Atánquez, historias de La Piragua, by María Fuentes Carrillo, Allison Cáceres Martínez and Édgar de Luque Jácome; Caminar el territorio para cuidar la vida by Pablo Vladimir Trejo Obando; and Keradó by Andrés Castillo and Diego Castillo. On the other hand, Llueve sobre Babel (Colombia, Spain, United States), directed by Colombian-Spanish Gala del Sol, has won awards at different international festivals.

Pioneers of Colombian cinema

With her gaze, the book by Tatiana Duplat, rescues the life and work of four pioneering women filmmakers: Kathleen Romoli, Inés Rendón Bustamante de Mejía, Lily Álvarez and Felisa Ochoa. This publication vindicates the place of women in the construction of the country's cinematographic language.

Symptoms of (dis)love cycle

From July 3 to 9, the venues of the Cinemateca de Bogotá will host an exhibition of Latin American cinema, organized in conjunction with the Gabo Foundation, in honor of the 40th anniversary of Love in the Time of Cholera. 11 films are part of this cycle.

BAM 2025 Programming

The sixteenth edition of the Bogota Audiovisual Market - BAM will be held from July 14 to 18 at the Chapinero headquarters of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce and the Gimnasio Moderno. Both venues will host multiple activities with national and international guests. Accreditations for the event will be open until July 7.

    BAM Talks 2025, the free, public event series of the Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM), returns for its 16th edition from July 14 to 18, hosting a powerful lineup of international guests. This year's talks will tackle key topics shaping today's audiovisual landscape, including creators behind projects like Cien años de soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude), Ojitos de huevo (Netflix's Nothing to See Here), content produced for FIFA, and the visual concept of Bad Bunny's latest album, Debí tirar más fotos (I Should've Taken More Photos). In parallel, BAM's Encuentros strategy celebrates 20 years of supporting Latin American cinema with three tailored training tracks in fiction, documentary, and animation. Industry professionals can register for BAM accreditations through July 7.

Colombian Participation at Annecy

Este no es tu jardín (This Is Not Your Garden) featured in one of Annecy's official competitions; three projects were presented in the MIFA Pitches, including one award-winner; six emerging talents and two projects participated as part of the OTROS OJOS Cinema Education Program delegation; and ten companies received support from the Colombia Film Commission—altogether representing Colombia's presence at this year's event.

Following their participation in the 78th edition of the festival, Un poeta (A Poet; Colombia, Germany, Sweden) and The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo, featuring cinematography by Colombian Angello Faccini, received awards in the Un Certain Regard section. Before the Winter, by Juan Zuluaga, was named Best Short Film in the American Pavilion's showcase for emerging filmmakers.

Actress Cristina Umaña takes on the presidency, joined by producer Paola Pérez Nieto and costume designer Catherine Rodríguez as first and second vice presidents. Alongside them, the newly elected representatives of the 14 specialties complete the new board of directors.

Convergent people at BAM 16

The Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Bogota and Proimágenes Colombia announce an alliance for more than $3.4 billion to strengthen the audiovisual and digital ecosystem of the city. The agreement includes different actions for the audiovisual sector, and includes the Gente Convergente event at BAM 2025.
