Colombian selection at Sheffield DocFest

Alma del desierto (Colombia, Brazil) will have its UK premiere in the Journeys category, Hijo de tigre y mula (Panama, Colombia) will have its international premiere in Memories, while the projects La sombra de Yolüja and Justicia en el país de la niebla will be part of the MeetMarket. March of the Butterflies will be presented at Whickers Podcast Pitch, and Colombian Marcela Lizcano will participate in the industry programming. The 32nd edition of the festival takes place from June 18-23, in the city of Sheffield.

Ricardo Cantor Bossa, director of the Cinemateca de Bogotá, is among them. He joins 12 other professionals on the federation's governing board.

First national famtrip

From May 26 to 31, 6 Colombian production companies participated in the first familiarization trip organized by the Film Commission of Proimágenes Colombia, with the support of the DACMI. The main destinations were Boyacá and Santander, seeking to strengthen the link between the national audiovisual industry and the regions, and to promote new locations.

Meetings at BAM 2025

The Encuentros strategy celebrates 20 years strengthening filmmaking in Latin America. This initiative of the Ministry of Cultures and Proimágenes Colombia will open three training spaces in fiction, documentary and animation. The Fiction category of the International Producers Meeting will be held within the framework of BAM 16.

June Releases

On June 12, Andrés Carmona Rivera's debut feature Estancia, a journey into the bowels of a tenement inhabited by old men who reveal their lives, their loves, and their vision of death, arrives in theaters nationwide. Also premiering is Andrés Jurado's Bienvenidos conquistadores interplanetarios y del espacio sideral. In the theater of the Cold War, astronauts lost in the Darien are besieged by their deepest fears when they are surprised by an indigenous man - did they think they would be beheaded or devoured by a savage cannibal? And on June 14, in Colombia, France and Germany, comes Chiribiquete. A journey to the ancestral memory of America, by Juan José Lozano, a leap into the depths of the ancestral mystery of the rock art of Chiribiquete, by the hand of a handful of Colombian scientists.

Colombian presence at Annecy and MIFA

Colombia arrives at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, June 8-14, with the participation of Este no es tu jardín in one of its official competitions, three projects in MIFA Pitches, six talents and two projects in the delegation of the Film Education Program - OTROS OJOS and 10 companies supported by the Colombia Film Commission. At the festival's marketplace (MIFA), Proimágenes Colombia together with Comfama and the Secretariat of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Bogota will have stand C-02 at their disposal, which, together with the South American Animation stand (C-19) of the OTROS OJOS and Orillas Nuevas programs (Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay), will be the great corner to accompany the promotion of Latin American animation and its large delegation.
