Synopsis
In the impoverished Japan of the twenties, Juzo Takeshima, discovers the Jorge Isaacs novel, Maria, without imagining the effect it World have on the lives of hundreds of Japanese –especially his. Takeshima begins to translate the novel by installments for the magazine of the University of Tokyo, where he teaches. With his disciples he glimpses the possibility of travelling to the mythical landscape of Maria, which the poet Isaacs, with great beauty, describes in his late 19th century masterpiece.
