Synopsis
The arduous life of a peasant family from Nariño (southern Colombia) that survives by extracting ice and sulphur from the summit of the Cumbal volcano. But it’s not only a documentary about their work; it’s also about a world view: their conceptions of danger and sacrifice, of beauty, of the sacred, and of what is indispensable. With Nature as the principal antagonist, the characters become archetypes of the human struggle against the environment –a struggle that in return fosters a deep appreciation for the simple joys of daily life.
