Synopsis
Every morning¸ some 90 students from El Samán Professional Circus School in Cali¸ Colombia¸ get off their bus and start the demanding collective work of preparing a circus show. They come from some of the most destitute neighborhoods or institutions for parentless kids like Bosconia¸ Marcelino or Casa Nueva. In the Circus School¸ they find a space way removed from their marginal universe¸ marked by different forms of social and economic violence¸ and daily build new prospects for their future. Nevertheless¸ this unusual experience does create a number of contradictions and particular struggles¸ some at the internal level¸ while carrying out team work and some outside the School. Our documentary presents the daily life of these youngsters: the physical training¸ the passionate arguments about the characters in the pieces they are creating¸ as well as their return home¸ the social and familiar surroundings of some of them¸ to approach the collective experience in their effort to create a different kind of life.
