Juan David Restrepo

Juan David Restrepo was born in Medellin on December 10, 1979. This film and television director and actor made his mark in the role of Wilmar in Barbet Schroeder’s Our Lady of Assassins (2000) and then on the TV series based on the same book. During his childhood, his parents were politically active and he spent much of his time in movie theaters, keeping out of the drug wars on the streets of his native Medellin. His desire to become an actor grew out of the many films he watched. At age 15, while acting in a stage play, he caught the attention of an international modeling agency talent scout, who got him jobs with Diesel, Unlimited and François Girbaud. Restrepo studied acting with actor Edgardo Román and at the Teatro Libre in Bogotá with Germán Jaramillo. He appeared in the TV series Siguiendo el rastro (2002), Historias de hombres solo para mujeres, Rosario Tijeras (2010) and Fox-Telecolombia’s La mariposa. His film work includes the Venezuelan production Punto y raya (2004) by Elia Schneider, in which in shares the screen with Edgar Ramírez (El chacal) and Ramiro Meneses (Rodrigo D); in Emilio Maillé’s Rosario Tijeras (2005); José Ramón Novoa’s El don (2006); his own En coma (2011) and El Páramo by Jaime Osorio.
