Julieth Restrepo

Star of Estrella del Sur, Colombian film released in May in Colombia

Born in Medellin in 1986, Julieth began her acting studies at the age of 13 at the University of Antioquia. Film, theater and television actress, she joined Medellín's Teatro Popular at age 17, studied vocal technique with Silvia Moscovitz and Yamile Puerta, and honed her acting technique with Vicky Hernandez. In 2006, she traveled to Bogotá for her first feature film role.

Her acting career began in the La Maldita Vanidad theater company and since then she has appeared in numerous plays including Las cuñadas at the Teatro Libre and Infraganti, El Burgués Gentil Hombre and El Oso at the Teatro Nacional. She recently appeared in Las malcriadas, a comedy directed by Pawel Nowicki at the Casa General La Castellana Theater.

She was part of the cast of the FoxTelecolombia television series Tiempo Final and Sin Retorno and appeared in both seasons of the RCN productions A Mano Limpia and in the Canal Caracol series dealing with human trafficking La promesa. She was also seen in the made-for-TV films Fantasmas del DAS and Luciérnagas.

She debuted on the big screen in the short films Nadie muere la víspera by Fabio Roa, Circe by Luis E Otero, Historias menores, Té para tres, Fotoagüita, Matando a Amelia, El palo de golf and Pago por ver.

Her feature film debut came in 2006 with director Juan Felipe Orozco's Al final del espectro, in a role that won her Best Supporting Actress at the 2008 National Cinematography Awards. Her second feature film was Broken Kingdom by actor/director Daniel Gillies (2012). She plays Soraya Ramirez in Estrella del sur, directed by Gabriel Gonzalez Rodriguez, is her most recent film currently in theaters and will soon be seen in El sello, a Colombian film directed by Philip Stephanou currently in preproduction.

Filming
