Claudia Victoria

Claudia Victoria has been a painter, an art director for film, and a university professor. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Instituto Departamental de Bellas Artes in Cali, Colombia. From 1995 to 2012, she taught in the Department of Aesthetics and Visual Arts at the Universidad del Valle; in 2009, she became the director of the visual arts research group AVdoc. She is currently completing a Masters in Interactive Design and Creation at the Universidad de Caldas.
Her work has been exhibited at group shows such as the October Exhibition, Camber of Commerce (Cali, 1984); the 30th National Exhibition of Colombian Artists (Bogota, 1986); the Arturo Rabinovich Exhibition, Medellin Museum of Modern Art (1989); the 32nd National Artists Exhibition (Cartagena, 1989); the Third Bogota Biennale, Museum of Modern Art (1992); the Fifth Regional Exhibitions (Cali, 1992); the Cali Art Festival, 5 Actitudes, Jenni Vilá Gallery (1993); the Eighth Regional Exhibitions, La Merced Museum of Archeology (Cali, 1997); the 37th National Artists Exhibition (Bogota, 1998); the Southwestern Artists Regional Exhibition (Cali, 2001); the Eighth October Exhibition, Rodando project (2007); the 41st National Exhibition, Rodando project (Cali, 2008); and the 42nd National En Restauración Exhibition, with the work Olvido (Cartagena, 2010). She also worked with artist Doris Salcedo from 1997 to 1998  on the project Unland (Caixa de Barcelona, ​​Alexander & Bonin Gallery, New York).
 
Victoria has had solo shows at the Jenni Vilá Gallery, with the Claudia Victoria–Olga Silva exhibit in 1992 and 1997, and the Claudia Victoria–Olga Silva Pinturas exhibit in 1989. In 2008, her exhibition Claudia Victoria – Olga Silva, Flujos y cortes was presented at the Alliance Française in Cali.
 
In the world of film, she was art director for the short Adentro (2006), by Ingrid Pérez; the feature film Others (2008), by Oscar Campo; the short Magnolia (2010), by Diana Montenegro; the feature Choco (2011), by Johnny Hendrix Hinestroza; Liveforever (2013), by Carlos Moreno; and the short Balón a tierra (2013), also by Carlos Moreno.
 
In 2014, she was art director on two projects by Johnny Hendrix Hinestroza: the short film Desaparecidos and the feature Saudo, coming to theaters on August 4. Also in 2014, she was art director on Mónica Bravo’s short film El sabor que nos queda.
 
Victoria also did the special effects makeup on Tom Schreiber’s Doctor Alemán (2007) and Carlos Moreno’s Dog Eat Dog (2007). She handled the exhibition design for the exhibits Identidades, formas de ver la Ciudad (Comfenalco Valle, 2009) and Ciudad Imaginada (Colombian-American Cultural Center, Universidad del Valle) in 2009 and 2010. In addition, she curated and produced Lugar a dudas at the Cali International Art Festival in 2011.
 
In 2008, she was nominated for Best Art Director at the National Film Awards for the feature film Others, which in 2009 won her the Best Art Direction Award at the Mompox Film Festival. Finally, in 2011 she won Best Art Direction for a Short Film at the In Vitro Visual International Festival for her work on the production Magnolia.
