8° YARIMAFICS FILM AND SERIES FESTIVAL
August 14 to 17 - 2025 / Barrancabermeja (Colombia)
Description
YarimaFICS is not just a festival, it is a cultural movement born from the heart of Magdalena Medio to tell the stories of the people, heal social wounds and form new generations. For three months, young people from official institutions are trained in the Semillero Yarima, creating films with cell phones and learning to narrate their environment. During the festival, movie theaters such as Procinal, Cinépolis and other alternative spaces are filled with regional, national and international productions. With the Zero Experience, hundreds of people who have never been to the cinema before - senior citizens, soldiers, rural youth, vulnerable communities - live this unique and transformative experience. In addition, intensive identity workshops, conversations with industry experts and a film competition open spaces for training, inspiration and dialogue. The soul of the festival is honored in its symbol: Yarima, the indigenous princess Yariguí, who represents resistance, roots and memory. We award and/or recognize projects and the sector with the festival's statuette, the Golden Yarima.
