Recognized as one of the most important film events in Europe and the first festival in the world dedicated to fantasy cinema, Sitges has established itself as the cultural event with the greatest media impact in Catalonia. It is also a qualifying festival for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the Oscars. As part of its industry section, the selections for WomanInFan, Sitges FanPitch, and Coming Soon were recently announced.

Colombia will be present in Sitges FanPitch with Los Eastman (The Eastmans), directed by Mauricio Leiva-Cock and produced by Adriana Aparicio and David Figueroa. This psychological thriller and social horror film is inspired by true events. Viviana, a domestic worker for the Eastman family, a wealthy household in Bogotá, is kidnapped by them during a quarantine caused by a deadly virus, cutting her off from her daughter and father. Determined to preserve their comfort at any cost, they subject her to modern slavery. On the verge of breaking, Viviana transforms, revealing a fierce and violent instinct. Determined to return to her family, she discovers that privilege is a virus that contaminates everyone, including herself.

Sitges FanPitch is a competition dedicated to feature film projects and series productions. Some of the selected proposals come from partner audiovisual markets. The Colombian project arrives at Sitges after winning a direct pass in the recent International Producers Meeting – Fiction Category 2025, held during the 16th Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM), where it was ranked among the highest-scoring projects.

The second Colombian project, Sierra: el álbum mortuorio (Sierra: The Mortuary Album), directed by Carlos Ortiz Alarcón and produced by Cristian Gil Bayona, is included in Sitges Coming Soon. The disappearance of Natalia, a 19-year-old, shakes the town of Pueblo Blanco. As authorities search for her, they reach a clandestine bar where two sisters survive under the abuse of their uncle and a corrupt clientele. When the sisters decide to help a strange man they find in the forest, they unleash a chain of violence and rituals in which the sheriff, his deputy, and the townspeople become prey to death and a dark cult. Amid the horror, a hidden truth emerges from the darkness, one that had once also cried out for help.

This section brings together horror, science fiction, and fantasy projects in their final stages of development, as well as completed films seeking support in key areas such as financing, distribution, or promotion.
As part of its strategy to increase the visibility of Colombian cinema, the International Promotion division of Proimágenes Colombia maintains a close relationship with Sitges and, since April 2025, has supported both projects through the process leading up to their participation in Sitges.
