Eleven Colombian projects will participate in the 2011 Huelva Co-Production Forum during the 37th Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival thanks to “Focus Colombia”, one of PROIMAGENES Colombia’s internationalization strategies for 2011 responsible for other initiatives in festivals such as the documentary festival Visions du Réel and the Carte Blanche event for projects in post-production at the Locarno Film Festival. The initiative made it possible for Colombia to claim the greatest number of projects at the forum in Huelva where producers, directors and distributors from the Ibero-American film world discuss co-production with project producers.

Colombian projects scheduled to participate in the 12th edition of this forum include: Carlos Moreno’s Lobos perdidos  produced by 64-A Films; Mario Esteban Castaño’s Virgen exótica produced by Castaño Producciones; Mauricio Pulido’s La luna se parte en dos (Fundación Enic Producciones); Rubén Mendoza’s Tierra en la lengua (Día Fragma Fábrica de Películas); Pedro H. Avellaneda’s Río seco (La Patota Films); Ana Sofía Osorio and Diego Bustamante’s Sin palabras (Proyección Films); Jorg Hiller García’s Arijuna – hombres blancos (Tonal Entertainment and Motivo Films); Alfonso Acosta’s El resquicio (Cabecitanegra Producciones); María Orteaga and Juan Cortés’ Corazón de pollo (Corazón de Pollo); Jhonny Hendrix Hinestroza’s Orlanda (Antorcha Films) and Martín Mejía’s Nacimiento (Yo Reinaré Producciones).

The Huelva Co-Production Forum, scheduled to take place from November 24-26 in the middle of the film festival from November 19-26, has over a period of 12 years become a meeting ground for filmmakers from both sides of the Atlantic and a place to develop co-productions between Europe and Latin America countries. Last year, a total of 39 projects from 14 different countries were chosen from 168 entries. In the past, the forum has worked with some of the most representative films out of Latin America in recent years including Juan Carlos Valdivia’s Zona Sur (Bolivia, 2009), winner of Best Director at Sundance; Gianfranco Quattrini’s Chicha tu madre (Mexico, 2006); and Carlos Bolado’s Solo Dios sabe (Mexico/Brazil, 2006), to name only a few.

“Focus Colombia” will take place November 24 when the Colombian producers will be given two hours in which to pitch their projects before moving on to bilateral meetings with representatives from production companies based in Spain, Argentina, Mexico, France, Germany, the UK and other countries.
